Dr. Theodoros Konstantinou is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The Cyprus Institute, within the Energy, Environment and Water Research Center (EEWRC). He holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, with his doctoral research focusing on probabilistic forecasting of renewable energy generation using advanced machine learning techniques. His work combines academic research with strong industry experience in electricity markets, renewable energy aggregation, and data-driven decision support.
At the Cyprus Institute, his research focuses on electricity market design and operation, market simulation tools, renewable integration, energy storage, and risk-aware assessment of power system adequacy, with particular emphasis on non-interconnected and island power systems. His broader research interests include wholesale electricity markets, probabilistic forecasting, energy storage valuation, market-based flexibility mechanisms, and the energy transition in the Mediterranean and EU regions.
