The Energy Department is embedded in a range of relevant European and International Networks and committees such as ESTELA, EERA, ESFRI WG etc. It focuses on achieving a low carbon economy via the adoption of measures for energy efficiency and the employment of renewable energies to reduce the dependence on hydrocarbon energy sources.

The Department is a member in two EERA Joint programmes – one on CSP technologies and one on the Economic, Environmental and Social Impacts of the Energy Transition (JP e3s).

The department’s network is widespread and diverse, stemming from the numerous international projects that it has taken part in. A few examples include INSHIP, SFERA III and StoRIES, but also STAGE-STE, STS-MED and EU-SOLARIS.
