The project focused on supplying the necessary support for the modelling needs of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism (MECIT) in Cyprus, ahead of the National Energy and Climate Plan that Cyprus had to submit within 2019. The project provided support to the Member State of Cyprus, for which already an energy system model in the open-source software OSeMOSYS had been developed. The work included fine-tuning the energy model based on new projections and environmental constraints. Using the updated model, the impact of future scenarios and policy options, provided by JRC, were analysed. All work, including updates of the base case scenario as well as future scenario implementation and analysis, were conducted on the open-source software OSeMOSYS.
