Panayiotis Papadopoulos got a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Cyprus in 2020. He graduated with a thesis titled “Distributed Monitoring and Control for Smart Buildings: A Model-Based Fault Diagnosis and Accommodation Framework”, developed within the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence.
His research topics and areas of interest are:

  • Control Theory: Design, analysis and development of monitoring and control algorithms.
  • Intelligent Buildings: Control and Fault Diagnosis of large-scale Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems.
  • Power Electronics: Mathematical formulation and Fault Diagnosis of Power Electronic systems i.e., Converters, Inverters.

Panayiotis works on the COLLECTiEF project, that stands for “Collective Intelligence for Energy Flexibility”, and its purpose is to upgrade the smartness of existing buildings and create a collaborative network of a large number of facilities providing grid flexibility while ensuring a reduction of energy consumption and comfortable conditions for the end-users.
